djvu conversion scripts that I'm trying not to lose
Posting scripts publicly on the web seems like a sensible way of not losing them when your hard drive burns down.
I used to do my scanning with xsane and convert the files later. I have since discovered gscan2pdf.
1. pnm2cjb2.sh Combines all bitonal pnm files in the current directory into a bundled .djvu document
The losslevel of 63 can be varied from 0 (lossless) to 200 (most lossy). As the value increases, compression artefacts arise. The document starts to look like it's been re-typed on a wobbly typewriter, and then it gets letters like 'a', 'e' and 'c' mixed-up.
2. pnm2c44.sh Combines all colour pnm files in the current directory into a bundled .djvu document. This is a less well-written, condensed script. You need to scan in your pnm files with the prefix that you'd like your output djvu file to have, and specify that on the command line.
